Seven soldiers of the Nigerian Army including a Lieutenant Colonel have lost their lives in an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in the Biu-Buni Yadi axis of Borno State on Saturday.

The incident occurs barely a fortnight after 17 soldiers were slain in Delta State.

Diaspora Digital Media gathered that the soldiers that the terror kingpins swopped on the soldiers at Kamuya, a village close to Buratai, home town of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai (rtd).

Our source said a gun fight ensued leading to the soldiers’ deaths.

This newspaper could not ascertain the number of casualties on the Boko Haram side.

The soldiers were reportedly on their way to purchase Petrol Motor Spirit whose price has gone up in Nigeria following the removal of subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“It’s very sad; they were soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai. They were ambushed on their way to Damaturu, Yobe state, to buy fuel,” he said.

“I can’t describe the kind of gun battle that ensued, the insurgents who were in large number overwhelmed the soldiers. It’s by God grace that I survived,” another source said.
