Texas: Police arrest man for damaging Tesla vehicles with mini four-wheeler

A 33-year-old man, Demarkeyun Marquize Cox, has been arrested in Texarkana, Texas, for ramming multiple Tesla vehicles using a mini four-wheeler.
The suspect’s actions, which occurred on Tuesday March 25 ,2025, have sparked outrage among car owners and prompted an ongoing police investigation.
The Texarkana Police Department said the first report came from the Golden Palace Restaurant on Summerhill Road.
Media report says surveillance footage from Tesla’s in-built camera captured Cox deliberately ramming the parked vehicle at high speed, causing serious damage.
The car’s owner, Virita Carstaffin, who was dining inside the restaurant, estimated repair costs at over $1,000.
“I don’t know this man or why he targeted my car,” she said, expressing her shock over the incident.
As officers began searching for the suspect, another report emerged from the Lowe’s parking lot on Walton Drive.
Cox allegedly struck another Tesla and etched the word “Elon” into its side, hinting at a possible grievance against Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk.
Shortly after, police spotted Cox riding his mini four-wheeler near the intersection of Summerhill and New Boston Roads.
When stopped, he initially provided false information, but officers confirmed his identity and arrested him.
While Cox was in custody, a third report came from Genesis Prime Care on College Drive, where another Tesla was vandalized.
The word “Elon” was also carved into this vehicle, leading police to suspect Cox’s involvement in the additional attacks.
“We are investigating whether he is responsible for these incidents. If confirmed, further charges will be filed,” police stated.
Authorities credited Tesla’s Sentry Mode, a sophisticated surveillance system, for capturing evidence that helped identify the suspect.
The footage from the Golden Palace incident played a key role in Cox’s swift arrest.
Cox has been charged with criminal mischief and failure to identify, with bail set at $105,000.
The motive behind the attacks remains unknown, but residents of Texarkana have been left stunned by the bizarre incidents.
Some speculate that Cox’s actions may be tied to personal resentment toward Musk, but police have not confirmed any motive.
This case adds to a growing list of Tesla-related vandalism across the United States in 2025.
Similar incidents, including Molotov cocktail attacks in Colorado and shootings in Oregon, have been reported in recent months.
Some experts suggest these attacks may be linked to Musk’s growing influence in President Donald Trump’s administration.
Cox’s arrest has led to further investigations.
