It’s a beautiful day and a new legislative week in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu arrives the Senate Chamber as Distinguish Senators all rise to welcome him.

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu now takes the Senate Official Opening Prayer.

The Senate now moves into an Executive Session.

The Senate resumes from its Executive/Close Door Session.

Senate Deputy Whip calls the Senate to order while he also calls on Distinguish Senators to take their seats for plenary to continue.

DSP Ike Ekweremadu now reports progress of what transpired during the Senate’s Close Door Session.

The Senate in its Close Door Session deliberated on issues relating to the smooth running of the Senate and other national issues.

DSP Ike Ekweremadu reads a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari announcing the President’s resumption of office after a short vacation.

Senator Obinna Ogba raises a petition from his constituents against Nigerian Prisons for wrongful dismissal and Police for ill-treatment.

Senator Tayo Alasoadura also raises a petition from his constituent against Corporate Affairs Commission.

Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf raises a petition from his constituent who wasn’t included in the Ambassadorial Nominees List from President Buhari.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege raises a petition from his constituent against a Medical Institution in Delta State for wrongful dismissal.

All petitions raised by Distinguish Senators are laid before the Senate and are forwarded to the Ethics PPP Committee to report back in 2 weeks.

Senator Dino Melaye now raises a point of order on an imminent threat to Nigeria’s democracy & against the principal officers of the Senate.

DSP Ike Ekweremadu puts the question forward for the Motion to be heard immediately and the ‘ayes’ have it.

Senator Dino Melaye proceeds:

“The Senate notes that its principal officers are being accused of a fraud that doesn’t exist.

“This emerging trend poses a threat to security and Nigeria’s unity.

“The Executive has decided to be chasing rats when the economy is gradually falling into recession.

“The Senate is aware of the dubious acts of the Attorney General of the Federation and his office.

Senator Dino Melaye suggests the Attorney General of the Federation be summoned to appear before the Senate.
