In a viral TikTok video, career coach Andrea Logan claims the job market is fake and so are the rules.

According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), she believes marginalized job seekers face more obstacles because they don’t know the hidden rules of the hiring process.

Logan says she joined the HR industry to uncover hiring secrets and help others navigate the system effectively.

She focuses especially on helping Black and Indigenous candidates who are often excluded from traditional career advancement paths.

According to Logan, job seekers must treat the process like a game and use strategy to succeed.

Her five-step plan offers a bold approach to getting six-figure remote jobs by breaking conventional norms.

The first step is picking a specific job title and building your entire strategy around that position.

Avoid applying for random jobs and ditch generic resumes, she advises specificity is key to standing out.

“Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? Show up as that,” Logan says.

Step two is tailoring your resume to match the chosen job title—even if you lack direct experience.

Logan urges candidates to highlight relevant skills from past roles that align with the job they want.

She challenges the idea that applicants need to be 100% qualified to apply, especially for women.

Step three is about performance: act like you already have the job and treat interviews like a role.

“You’re selling labor to a buyer,” she explains, comparing job hunting to sales and acting.

Logan emphasizes the importance of fully adopting the professional identity of the job title you’ve chosen.

This includes your online presence, communication style, and the way you carry yourself during interviews.

The fourth step involves recognizing that most job descriptions aren’t entirely truthful or realistic.

“They’re trying to attract unicorn candidates,” Logan explains, “but that’s not the actual job you’ll be doing.”

Use interviews to gather real insights about the position and adjust your responses accordingly.

By listening carefully, you can align your answers with what the employer actually needs, not just what’s posted.

Finally, Logan says to ignore most job search rules they’re fake and designed to gatekeep.

She believes traditional advice often protects insiders and discourages outsiders from climbing the corporate ladder.

“People don’t give actionable steps because they’re afraid you’ll surpass them,” she claims.

This is especially true for those from underrepresented communities facing systemic barriers.

Logan believes confidence, strategy, and boldness are necessary tools for breaking into higher-paying roles.

“You don’t have to follow the rules to get a better life,” she says.

“Fight back with the same tactics they’re using confidence and controlled BS,” she adds.

Her message resonates with job seekers who feel excluded despite doing everything “right” by traditional standards.

Logan encourages people to take control, shape their narrative, and stop waiting for permission.

“Pick your path, put on a show, and BS them right back  all the way to the bank,” she says.
