Israel Umoh, 27; David Dashagh, 22; and Umoru Musa, 22; whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
They were brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing 150 litres of company diesel worth N30, 000.00
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences at Oregun Freight Company Limited, Ikeja, Lagos, on April 16.
He said that the accused, who were workers at the Freight Company Limited, conspired to steal the diesel.
The offences contravene Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes a three-year jail term for one convicted of stealing, while Section 409 stipulates two years for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mrs. G.O. Anifowoshe, admitted the accused to N20, 000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be blood relations of the accused, gainfully employed, and should show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Anifowoshe adjourned the case until May 25 for mention.
