Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo made a notable appearance at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, marking his first visit since President Bola Tinubu took office.

The visit comes after a period of apparent diplomatic face-off between Obasanjo and the current administration.

Obasanjo, known for his candid criticism, had previously stayed away from the Villa, including significant gatherings like Council of State meetings.

His visit coincided with the 2025 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, hosted by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, with the theme “Emmanuel: God With Us.”

During the event, Obasanjo delivered the Second Lesson from Genesis 22:15-18, highlighting God’s covenant of blessing through obedience.

Other dignitaries present included former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, who read the First Lesson from Genesis 3:8-12.

President Bola Tinubu was absent from the event. The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols is an annual Christian observance held during the Christmas season.
