President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday, commissioned major projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.

The projects are the Iko-Atabrikang-Akata-Opulom-Ikot Inwang-Okoroutip-Iwochang road and a 600 meter long bridge.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu, who was represented by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and the NDDC for their efforts in completing the projects.

He also congratulated the Governor of Akwa Ibom State for being supportive of the developmental drive of the NDDC in Akwa Ibom State.

Senator Akpabio described the projects as a significant milestone in the development of the region and a step forward in the roadmap to transform Nigeria’s infrastructure.

He expressed delight at the positive impact of the new NDDC in the region, which he noted is “totally uncommon.”

Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, represented by his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakeni, praised the NDDC for completing the projects, saying it is a significant achievement in fulfilling its core mandate of revitalizing the region.

He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Government of Akwa Ibom State and NDDC to bring tangible benefits to the communities and the broader Niger Delta Region.

Honorable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Abubakar Momoh, acknowledged that the project is a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to developing the Niger Delta Region.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that the region receives the necessary attention and resources to drive growth and prosperity. We will continue to work with the NDDC and other stakeholders to deliver more projects that will benefit the people of the region,” he stated.

Construction work on the second phase of the Iko-Atabrikang-Akata-Opulom-Ikot Inwang-Okoroutip-Iwochang road was also flagged-off.
