President Bola Tinubu has pledged to replicate Abuja’s successful road infrastructure projects across Nigeria, aiming to boost economic growth nationwide.

During Tuesday’s inauguration of the Murtala Mohammed expressway, a vital segment of the inter-northern expressway (INEX), Tinubu’s vision for nationwide development became clear.

This initiative promises to transform transportation and commerce throughout the country.

Represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Tinubu highlighted the strategic importance of the newly completed INEX.

He described it as a “critical piece” of Abuja’s master plan, designed to connect key junctions and facilitate safer, faster movement within the city’s transport corridors.

This road will unlock new business, housing, and investment opportunities in surrounding districts.

Tinubu emphasized that projects like this demonstrate what effective planning, execution, and leadership can achieve when aligned with clear purpose.

Consequently, his administration is determined to extend such infrastructure successes across all Nigerian regions.

The plan includes roads, bridges, railways, and other vital projects to ensure comprehensive national development.

The President commended Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for his unwavering commitment to quality project delivery.

Moreover, he characterized the expressway as a powerful symbol of progress, reflecting his “renewed hope” agenda for Nigeria’s future.

Consequently, this recognition highlights the government’s dedication to impactful governance and infrastructure development.

Initially awarded in 2014 for N7 billion, the 16-kilometre road project ultimately cost N31 billion due to inflation.

Furthermore, Minister Wike emphasized the economic benefits, noting that the nearby industrial park is projected to create 40,000 direct jobs.

As a result, this development will significantly enhance local employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity in the region.

FCT Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud praised the project as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to transformative governance.

Meanwhile, Richard Dauda, acting executive secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority, detailed the INEX road’s specifications, describing it as a 32.5-kilometre, 10-lane expressway integral to Abuja’s master plan.

Dauda explained the road features two main carriageways with three lanes each and two service carriageways with two lanes each.

The route stretches from Maitama’s IBB Golf Course through multiple districts, terminating at ONEX.

Currently, this section marks the second phase of the phased development plan.

As President Tinubu continues prioritizing infrastructure, his vision remains clear: to create a more connected, economically vibrant Nigeria through strategic investments in road networks nationwide.

This ambitious plan promises to reshape Nigeria’s future and accelerate growth.
