To Ensure Public Safety, Police arrest eight criminal suspects in Imo

The Imo state Police Command’ in synergy with other sister agencies have raided forest hideouts and arrested eight 8 criminal suspects.

They also recovered arms and ammunitions in Owerri West local government area of Imo state.

Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesman stated in a statement on Monday March 10th 2025.

He said: “In a sustained effort to rid Imo State of criminal elements, the Imo State Police Command, in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, has intensified operations in identifying criminal hideouts across the state.

A recent coordinated raid on March 10, 2025, targeted forested areas surrounding Avu, Irete, Okuku, Ihiagwa, and Obinze in Owerri West LGA, as well as parts of Ngor Okpala LGA and other locations.

The operation led to the arrest of eight suspects at Okuku in Owerri West LGA and the recovery of two automatic pump-action guns, 17 live cartridges, nine walkie-talkies, three cutlasses, seven mobile phones, laptops, a power bike, and other incriminating items.

These suspects are currently undergoing intensive investigation to determine their level of involvement and to aid in apprehending other accomplices.

This underscores the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and ensuring public safety.

To further strengthen security operations, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has established a Special Tactical Unit tasked with identifying and flushing out criminals hiding in forests and other hideouts across the state.

This specialized unit, equipped for intelligence-driven operations, will work closely with security agencies and local vigilantes to sustain the fight against crime and criminality.

Present during the operation, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Imo State on Security Affairs, Rtd. General Joseph Ogbonna, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property.

He assured residents that the government remains steadfast in its resolve to enhance peace and security across the state.

CP Danjuma urges all law-abiding citizens to support ongoing security efforts by providing credible information on suspicious activities.

The Commissioner of Police Imo state Police Command, Aboki Danjuma has earlier stated that he would rid Imo state of crime and criminal elements.
