Tragic incident: Man kills mother and sister in Ekiti state

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a man, Victor Lorjaal, for allegedly murdering his mother and sister in cold blood.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the victims, Mrs. Victoria Lorjaal and her elder daughter, Brenda Lorjaal, were reportedly attacked with a machete on their farm.

Police authorities confirmed that the gruesome incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Aba Ile camp, Itaji-Ekiti.

According to the police, the attack took place at approximately 7:10 a.m. while the victims were working on their farm.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene after committing the crime, leaving the bodies of his mother and sister lifeless.

Eyewitness account sheds light on the tragic event

One of the children of the deceased, who witnessed the attack, narrated how the events unfolded.

He explained that he was working on the farm with the suspect before Victor suddenly left him without any explanation.

The suspect reportedly walked toward their mother and sister, who were working at a distant location on the farm.

Moments later, the eyewitness heard their mother screaming for help, prompting him to rush to the scene.

Upon arrival, he discovered that his mother and sister had been brutally attacked with a machete.

By the time he reached them, Victor had already fled the scene with the weapon in his possession.

Police react as investigation begins

Following the tragic incident, the Ekiti State Police Command launched an immediate investigation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect in an official statement.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has directed a thorough investigation into the matter.

Abutu assured the public that the suspect would face justice upon the completion of the investigation.

“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he added.

The police have urged members of the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to handle the case.

Community in shock over the heinous crime

The gruesome killings have left the Itaji-Ekiti community in deep shock and mourning.

Residents expressed disbelief over the suspect’s actions, as there had been no prior signs of conflict.

Neighbors and extended family members described the victims as peaceful and hardworking individuals.

Some community members speculated that the suspect might have been suffering from mental health issues.

Others called for a swift and fair trial to ensure that justice is served for the victims.

Authorities call for caution and vigilance

Police officials have urged residents to report any suspicious behaviors among family members or neighbors.

They emphasized the importance of seeking professional help for individuals showing signs of aggression or instability.

Experts have also highlighted the need for mental health awareness and early intervention in conflict situations.

As the police continue their investigation, the tragic incident serves as a painful reminder of the need for community vigilance.

The authorities remain committed to ensuring that justice prevails and that such crimes are prevented in the future.
