Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East (Operation HADIN KAI), have killed 13 ISWAP terrorists in a failed ambush and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack along the Gubio–Damasak road in Borno State.
Diaspora Digital Media gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, when troops were escorting humanitarian trucks conveying relief materials to displaced communities.
The terrorists detonated two command IEDs and opened heavy fire in an attempt to halt the convoy.
Gallant troops immediately took battle positions and responded with overwhelming firepower, eliminating 13 insurgents while the rest fled in disarray.
In a subsequent exploitation of the area, the soldiers recovered eight AK-47 rifles, ten magazines, a large cache of 7.62mm ammunition, camel bags, several rolls of detonating cords, and primed IEDs.
Meanwhile, during the face-off, one soldier sustained minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
Four tyres of a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle were damaged, while two escort trucks were gutted by fire.
However, despite the incident, the troops successfully secured the humanitarian convoy.
Military authorities assured that deliberate clearance operations are ongoing in the general area to deny terrorists freedom of action and guarantee safe passage for humanitarian operations.
