Trump Conviction Won’t Affect Presidential Bid, Says Dick Morris

Despite being convicted by a New York City jury, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign will not be derailed, according to political strategist Dick Morris.

Morris argues that the public sees the verdict as a manifestation of judicial bias, citing Judge Juan Merchan’s partisan ties and biased rulings throughout the case.

Morris believes that Democrats will try to make the verdict a central issue in the 2024 election.

Voters are more concerned with pressing issues like inflation, energy prices, crime, and immigration, and will not be swayed by attempts to label Trump a convicted felon.

In fact, Morris suggests that the verdict may even boost Trump’s campaign, as it reinforces his narrative of being a victim of partisan persecution. He draws parallels with the 1998 midterm elections, where Republicans focused too heavily on Bill Clinton’s misconduct and ignored the real issues facing voters.

However, Morris notes that if Judge Merchan imposes harsh sentencing or restricts Trump’s ability to campaign, it could become a major issue and potentially benefit Trump’s campaign.
