The United States President, Donald Trump, has demanded public apology from Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky in order to repair the damaged relations between the two countries.

President Trump made the appeal less than forty-eight hours after he embarrassed his Ukrainian counterpart during his visit to the White House.

The United States President claimed that he rejected President Zelensky’s request to come back to the White House after the embarrassment.

“He wants to come back right now, but I can’t do that,” Trump had said after he abruptly terminated Zelensky’s visit to the Oval Office.

Responding to Trump’s call for apology, the Ukrainian President said he does n0t owe Trump an apology.

He insisted that Ukraine had a pact with Russia after Vladimir Putin annexed Crime, which was undersigned by the United States and the rest of the world powers.

He, therefore, further insisted that he was right in his demands that Russia pull out of Ukraine unconditionally.

According to him, the immediate ceasefire Trump demanded will come after Russia ceases any and all assault against Ukraine.

Russia must also be ready to make reparations against Ukraine’s destroyed infrastructures, he maintained.

Zelensky further stated that Ukraine won’t enter peace talks with Russia until it has guaranteed security from the United States.

On his part, NATO Chief Mark Rutte said Zelensky must “find a way” to restore relations with President Trump and the United States.

“You have to find a way, dear Volodymyr, to restore your relationship with Donald Trump and the American administration,” Rutte advised.

Reacting to the seeming unpleasant scenario that played out on February 28 between him and Trump, Germany has offered Zelensky a shoulder to cry on.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Ukraine can rely on Germany and Europe after Zelensky was seen off the White House.

In the meantime, President Trump has warned Zelensky to either make a deal to end the war or fight Russia without the United States.

“If he fights it out, it’s not gonna be pretty because without us, he doesn’t win,” he mocked the Ukrainian leader.

In a related development, Trump has terminated support for Ukraine’s power grid restoration after the face-off with Zelensky.

Not done with that, the United States President threatened to cut off all US aid to Ukraine unless Zelensky capitulated to his demands.

It could be recalled that trump had demanded access to Ukraine’s rare mineral resources in exchange for continued military and financial support.

Zelensky initially agreed to the demand but on condition of full guaranteed security from the United States which Trump rejected.

He maintained that a cease-fire deal must come first, which Ukrainians described putting the cart before the horse.
