Trump gives Hamas deadline to accept Israel peace deal

US President Donald Trump has given Hamas a 3-4 day ultimatum to accept his proposed peace deal with Israel, warning of a “very sad end” if the group rejects the plan.

The proposal, unveiled ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House, includes, an end to military operations within 72 hours, all hostages held by Hamas would be released, Hamas would have no governing role in Gaza, instead, a “technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee” and a “board of peace” made up of international leaders would take charge.

The plan has been endorsed by Arab and Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Israel

Trump stated that Netanyahu would have his “full backing” to take necessary actions if Hamas fails to accept the proposal.

A senior Hamas official expressed skepticism, telling the BBC that the group is likely to reject the proposal, which they believe serves Israel’s interests while ignoring Palestinian needs.

Qatari officials are reportedly engaged in ongoing discussions with Hamas to facilitate a response.
