The United States has intensified its military operations against Houthi forces in northern Yemen.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that fifteen airstrikes were carried out within 24 hours as confirmed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM made this announcement early today via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Washington aims to weaken the Houthis’ military capabilities amid increasing regional instability.

Houthi-affiliated media acknowledged the strikes and described them as unprecedented in both scale and frequency.

The U.S. offensive is part of an ongoing effort to neutralize threats from the Houthis.

Despite international pressure, the Houthis continue to control significant areas of northern Yemen.

The Houthis, also called Ansar Allah, emerged in the 1990s as a Shia-Zaydi rebel movement.

Initially, they sought greater autonomy for the Zaydi population in northern Yemen.

Over time, they evolved into a powerful political and military force.

The Houthis have been engaged in a long-standing conflict with Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

A Saudi-led coalition, supported by the United States, has been fighting against the Houthis since 2015.

In 2014, the Houthis seized Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, escalating tensions in the region.

Saudi Arabia and its allies launched a military intervention to restore the Yemeni government.

The United States has provided intelligence, logistics, and weapons to the Saudi-led coalition.

The conflict in Yemen has led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Houthi drone interception raises concerns

A Houthi spokesman announced that their air defenses shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone.

The incident occurred over Marib province, an area of strategic importance.

The spokesman claimed the drone was intercepted using a locally manufactured missile.

This demonstrates the Houthis’ increasing technological sophistication and defensive capabilities.

The MQ-9 Reaper is an advanced drone used for surveillance and precision strikes.

The downing of such a high-value U.S. asset raises concerns about Houthi military advancements.

Analysts believe this could signal a turning point in the group’s defensive strategy.

The U.S. may need to adjust its approach to counter these emerging threats.

Regional and global implications

This development comes amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The Houthis have maintained strong ties with Iran, receiving financial and military support.

Their ability to intercept advanced U.S. drones signals a growing defensive capability.

This complicates efforts by the United States and Saudi-led forces to weaken the group.

Observers warn that continued U.S. airstrikes may provoke further retaliation from the Houthis.

Retaliatory actions could escalate tensions beyond Yemen and impact broader regional stability.

Military analysts predict Washington may sustain or intensify its strikes in the coming weeks.

The strikes aim to dismantle Houthi infrastructure and disrupt their operational networks.

The situation in Yemen remains fluid and continues to draw international attention.

The Houthis’ ability to counter U.S. air operations adds uncertainty to an already complex conflict.

With both sides intensifying military strategies, the risk of further escalation remains high.
