Naftali Bennett urges Israel to strike Iran over Houthis

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has urged Israel to target Iranian assets in response to ongoing Houthi attacks.

Iran, a country located in Western Asia, boasts a rich cultural heritage and a long, storied history that dates back thousands of years, with influences from ancient civilizations such as the Persians and the Medes.

Iranian assets, which encompass a wide range of financial and physical resources owned by the nation, include foreign exchange reserves, government holdings, infrastructure investments, oil and gas resources, and other valuable properties.

These assets are utilized to support the country’s economic growth, financial stability, and strategic objectives both domestically and globally.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), Bennett claims that Iran is the true force behind the Houthis and must be held accountable for its actions.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he accused Iran of financing, arming, training, and operating the Houthis.

“It is Iran that finances, arms, trains, and operates the Houthis.

“Iran has a lot to lose; the Houthis have much less.

“Therefore, Israel must levy a high price on Iran.

“Only in this way will Iran understand,” Bennett wrote.

His remarks come amid rising tensions, with Houthi forces launching missile and drone strikes on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea.

The Houthis have also targeted Western interests, intensifying regional instability and raising global security concerns.

Israel has already responded with airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen, aiming to weaken their capabilities.

However, Bennett’s statement suggests a shift in strategy, advocating direct confrontation with Iran instead of focusing solely on the Houthis.

He believes that targeting Iranian assets would serve as a stronger deterrent against future attacks in the region.

Western intelligence agencies and Israeli officials have long accused Iran of supporting the Houthis with military aid and training.

They claim that Tehran provides weapons, logistical support, and strategic guidance to the Yemeni rebel group.

Iran, however, denies direct involvement, asserting that the Houthis act independently in their resistance against Western influence.

The ongoing conflict has drawn international attention, with Western nations monitoring developments closely.

The Red Sea, a critical global trade route, has been increasingly disrupted by Houthi attacks on commercial vessels.

The situation has also raised concerns among Gulf states and other regional powers fearing wider escalation.

Bennett’s call for action reflects broader debates within Israel’s leadership on how to handle Iran’s influence.

Some Israeli officials favor diplomatic and economic pressure, while others advocate for more aggressive military responses.

The potential for direct Israeli action against Iran could significantly alter the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.

It remains unclear whether the Israeli government will adopt Bennett’s proposed strategy or continue its current approach.

As tensions persist, the international community continues to call for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation.

However, with each attack, the likelihood of broader conflict increases, keeping the region on high alert.
