Umeh: Labour Party ‘ll overcome its challenges
A prominent figure in the Labour Party and representative of Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, has expressed his confidence that the Labour Party will overcome its current challenges.
According to the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Senator Umeh expressed his confidence on Sunday during a thanksgiving service and empowerment programme held at Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu, organized by the senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Kelvin Chukwu.
According to reports, the service was a precursor to Umeh’s empowerment program for his constituents in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Umeh stated that “every political party has its unique set of challenges, and internal conflicts are just part of the package.”
The senator acknowledged that internal conflicts are a normal part of party politics, and the Labour Party is working diligently to resolve its issues.
Umeh addressing the challenges of hardship facing the country, he stated that the National Assembly is doing all its possible best to support government in fighting the challenges.
In addition, the senator while reacting to the poor performance of the LP in the Abia State local government election, referred the performance as a minor setback.
He stated that the party will bounce back stronger in the general election, where they have a better chance of winning.
“The Labour Party is already shifting its focus to the bigger prize,” the senator stated.
The chairman of the empowerment items distribution at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Dr. Ben Nwoye, speaking at the event hailed the initiative and called it a shining example of democracy in action.
Nwoye emphasized his commitment to promoting good governance, proudly identifying himself as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also acknowledged Senator Kelvin Chukwu’s affiliation with the Labour Party, highlighting the importance of collaboration across party lines to achieve better governance.
Nwoye urged the beneficiaries to utilize the donated items wisely, emphasizing that doing so would motivate the donor to continue giving.

Senator Victor Umeh is a Nigerian politician who has made significant contributions to the country’s governance.
He was born on July 19, 1962, in Anambra State. He hails from Aguluzigbo, a town in Anaocha Local Government Area.
Early Life and Education of Umeh
Umeh started his education at St. Bridget’s Primary School Aguluzigbo and later attended Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School Adazi-Nnukwu, graduating with Division One in 1980.
He then proceeded to the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he earned a BSc Honours in Estate Management in 1984.
Professional Background of Umeh
As a professional, Umeh is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers and a registered Estate Surveyor and Valuer by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria.
He is also the Principal Consultant at V. C. Umeh & Co., a firm of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
Political Career
Umeh’s entry into politics began in 1998 as a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He later joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and served as its National Chairman. In 2018, he was elected to represent Anambra Central Senatorial District and was sworn into the 8th National Assembly.
Current Affiliation
Currently, Senator Umeh represents Anambra Central Senatorial District under the Labour Party (LP) in the 10th National Assembly. He chairs the Senate Committee on Diaspora.
Awards and Recognition
Umeh has received several awards, including the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and a Papal Knight of St. Sylvester.
Philanthropy
Victor is known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly through the Victor Umeh Education Foundation (VUMEF), which has awarded scholarships to over 220 indigent students.
He is currently the Chancellor of Tansian University and the chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora in the 10th National Assembly.
