The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] has declared the All Progressives Congress [APC] candidate, Mr. Benjamin Uwajumogu, winner in the just-concluded Imo North Senatorial rerun.
Mr. Uwajumogu beat closest his rival, Mr. Athan Achonu of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] to clinch the ticket.
Further, APC also won two state constituencies during the rerun.
Announcing the results Prof. Arinze Agbogu who is INEC returning officer for the election said APC candidate for the senatorial election Mr. Benjamin Uwajumogu polled 56,076 votes.
Meanwhile, his PDP opponent Athan Achonu garnered 43,815 votes
Dr. Chiji Collins of APC won Isiala Mbano Constituency also Hon. Nkenna Nzeruo of APC emerged winner of Oru East Constituency
With this development, Mr. Benjamin Uwajumogu becomes the only APC senator from the south east in the 8th Senate.
