Update: Heavily armed police seal off PDP convention venue

“Police [are] parading the street leading to Sharks Stadium, venue of PDP Repeat National Convention.

“Happening now in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“We are witnessing huge presence of contingent of security agencies within and around the Sharks stadium, venue of our Repeat National Convention.

“Party leaders, our governors and other leaders of the Party are on top of the situation and has directed all members and other Party supporters nationwide to remain calm and await further instructions,” writes PDP.

Information reaching Elombah.com says that the venue for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention – Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State – has been sealed off by government security agencies.

According to our sources on ground, heavily armed operatives of the Nigerian police cordoned of the premises without warning.

However, on alternative switch, PDP stalwarts have summoned an emergency meeting at the government house, Port Harcourt for deliberations.

This is evidently not unconnected to the imbroglio that has embroiled the Convention since the varying and conflicting court decisions that clustered it.

Preparation for the PDP scheduled Repeat National Convention was already underway with the screening of all the aspirants contesting various positions.
