US will carry out largest deportation in history if I’m elected – Trump

Former United States President, Donald Trump, has promised to carry out the largest deportation in the country’s history if he wins the presidential election on the November 5.
Trump who is the Republican presidential nominee made this known in a X-space conversation held by Elon Musk, X CEO, which Diaspora Digital Media monitored in the early hours of Tuesday.
He asserted that over 20 million immigrants have entered the country illegally, including individuals from prisons, mental institutions, and terrorist organisations.
He emphasised that the immigrants come from various regions, including South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, and alleged that some are from countries currently supporting Hamas militants in the ongoing war against Israel in Gaza.
The presidential hopeful said, “They (immigrants) have to come in legally. They have to be checked. I believe over 20 million people came into our country. Many coming from prisons, from mental institutions or a bigger version of that is insane asylums and many are terrorists and I will tell you that they are coming not just from South America. They are coming from Africa. They are coming from all over the world. They are coming from Asia. They are coming from the Middle East. They are coming from countries that are stupidly and horribly bombing Israel on October 7th. We have a defective government.
“These are people that are jailed for murder and all sorts of things and they are releasing them into our country and they are telling them if you come back we gonna kill you. We are gonna give you the death penalty or kill you. These are criminals that make our criminals look like nice people.
“We are gonna have the largest deportation in history,” Trump declared.
Reviewing Trump’s deportation policy while serving as President:
During his presidency, Donald Trump’s deportation policy was a cornerstone of his immigration agenda.
The policy aimed to increase deportations, particularly of undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
However, the approach was widely criticized for its harshness, lack of nuance, and devastating impact on families and communities.
One of the key features of Trump’s deportation policy was the expanded definition of “criminal.”
The administration broadened the term to include those charged with crimes, not just those convicted.
This led to a significant increase in deportations, with many undocumented immigrants being removed from the country without due process.
Trump’s administration also prioritized deporting certain groups, including those with criminal records, recent arrivals, and individuals with final deportation orders.
This approach was criticized for targeting vulnerable populations, such as families and young people brought to the US as children.
The Trump administration’s attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was another controversial aspect of the deportation policy. DACA protected young undocumented immigrants from deportation and allowed them to work and study in the US.
The move to end DACA was widely criticized for its potential to separate families and disrupt the lives of thousands of young people.
The border wall, a signature promise of Trump’s campaign, was another component of the deportation policy.
The wall was intended to reduce illegal immigration, but its effectiveness and feasibility were widely questioned. Moreover, the wall became a symbol of Trump’s hardline stance on immigration, which many saw as divisive and anti-immigrant.
The increased use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids was another tactic employed by the Trump administration.
These raids targeted workplaces and communities, leading to widespread fear and anxiety among immigrant populations.
Critics argued that the raids were inhumane and failed to address the root causes of immigration.
Finally, Trump’s reduction of refugee admissions to the US was another aspect of the deportation policy.
The move was criticized for abandoning the US’s tradition of providing a safe haven for those fleeing persecution and conflict.
His deportation policy was a highly controversial aspect of his presidency.
