Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election, defeating former governor Rochas Okorocha by a landslide in the party’s primary election.
The APC primary was held on Monday at the Orlu Local Government Secretariat, where party delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of Uzodimma.
Announcing the results, Williams Kayoda said the governor polled 230,464 votes, while Okorocha secured 1,098 votes.
Uzodimma previously represented Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate between 2011 and 2019 before becoming governor in 2020.
His victory now positions him for a possible return to the National Assembly after the completion of his second and final term as governor, which is expected to end in January 2028.
Imo West Senatorial District, popularly known as Orlu Zone, remains one of the most politically influential regions in the state and has long played a central role in Imo politics.
