LAGOS, NIGERIA — Controversial social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has declared that Nigerians must remove President Bola Tinubu from office in 2027, warning that failure to do so would mean forfeiting any hope of a better future for the country.
VDM made the declaration over the weekend in a video posted on his social media handles, where he delivered a scathing assessment of the Tinubu administration’s performance, focusing on the rising cost of living, insecurity, and what he described as the disconnect between the government and the realities of ordinary Nigerians.
“We must remove Tinubu in 2027. If we don’t do it, we should forget about this country. This is not about political parties anymore. It is about the survival of the Nigerian people,” VDM stated in the video, which quickly went viral across multiple platforms.
The activist, who has built a massive following through his fearless commentary on governance and social issues, argued that the current administration had failed to address the fundamental challenges facing Nigerians. He cited the rising cost of fuel, food, transportation, and rent, which he said had made life unbearable for millions of citizens.
“Nigerians are suffering. The price of everything has gone up. People cannot afford to eat, they cannot afford to travel, they cannot afford to pay their rent. And the government is telling us that everything is fine. How can everything be fine when our people are dying?” he asked.
VDM also criticised the government’s handling of security, noting that kidnappings, banditry, and terrorism had continued unchecked in many parts of the country. He said the government had failed to protect the lives and property of Nigerians, and that this was a fundamental betrayal of the social contract.
“They promised us security, but people are being kidnapped every day. They promised us a better economy, but people are losing their jobs. They promised us hope, but Nigerians are losing hope. We cannot continue like this,” he stated.
The activist called on young Nigerians to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards, and prepare to vote in 2027. He urged them to reject inducements and to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process, stressing that the future of the country was at stake.
“I am not here to campaign for any political party. I am here to speak for the Nigerian people. We need a government that listens, that cares, that is accountable. We need a government that works for the people. That is why we must remove Tinubu in 2027,” VDM declared.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising him for speaking truth to power and others accusing him of being partisan and irresponsible.
