Victor Umeh needs to be tethered – Joe Martins Uzodike

The former Chairman of APGA Chief Victor Umeh has rejected Mr. Peter Obi’s condolence visit, saying that his family deserved more than that.

He said this today, during the vote of thanks at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Aguluzoigbo, after the requiem mass conducted by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor.

Chief Umeh showed reckless disrespect to the family of the dead by insulting a man that came on his own to condole with them.

Meanwhile since Peter Obi join the Anambra Senatorial re run race Chief Umeh has antagonised him with venom.

Sir Umeh lamented to his friend that “after dealing with Iyom, this one just came out to spoil my show “.

Reacting to what he called Victor Umeh’s outburst, the former Commissioner of Information under Mr. Peter Obi, Barr. Joe Martins Uzodike described it as unfortunate.

He said that the only thing deductible from what Sir Victor Umeh said is the universal affliction of ingrates, arrogant and pompous people: righteous indignation here and there.

Expressing surprise that even the officiating Ministers could not call him to his senses, Barr. Uzodike said it was bad for the morality of the State.

He described the situation as “Chief Victor Umeh speaking without a modicum of respect for a former Governor.”

“He amazed all of us by talking about what the Umehs did for Obi, when it is a notorious fact that Umeh’s life changed after he met Obi.

“Yes, Obi bought his first personal car, paid and procured his first international passport and overseas trips.

“It is after he met Obi that he moved from a two-bed room house to owing mansions here and there.

“Nobody is begrudging him all that, but it is double sin to deny these facts and upon that vilify the man that made him.

Uzodike who noted that Umeh’s antagonism became magnified since Obi started contesting Senatorial seat asked rhetorically:

“is it a crime for Obi to aspire for what is within his constitutional rights.”

Commenting on Umeh’s statement that his family needed more than condolence visit from Obi, Barr. Uzodike said that Umeh should explain what he needed from Obi since he said he did not heed condolence visit.

He recalled that Umeh rejected the support of 5 million Naira Obi, when he was still the Governor.

That was the money Obi gave to him to assist him in burying his mother on the ground that it was ” too small”.

Sounding a general warning, Uzodike said that things would not become better in our society.

That is as long as the society, including the Church continues to encourage characters such as the one displayed by Umeh.
