(VIDEO) Emergency Rule: Troops storm Rivers Govt. House to evict suspended governor, deputy

A verified video footage obtained by Diaspora Digital Media on Tuesday night shows Nigerian troops heading to the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.

This development follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

As a result, Governor Siminilaye Fubara, Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, and all state government appointees are required to vacate their offices immediately.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule and his colleagues are also affected.

Initially, sources suggested that the governor’s impeachment was planned for Friday.

However, two pipeline explosions in the state on Tuesday reportedly prompted the president to declare a state of emergency to prevent further escalation.

Minutes before the president’s live broadcast, Governor Fubara and his inner circle held a meeting at the government house.

The Rivers State Government House, also known as The Brick House or Governor’s House, is the official residence and workplace of the Governor of Rivers State.
