“We did what we did for God”: El-Rufai accuses Tinubu’s camp of ingratitude

Nasir El-Rufai openly criticizes President Tinubu’s government, exposing deepening fractures between former allies.

After championing Southern leadership succession, Nasir El-Rufai secured Bola Tinubu’s APC presidential nomination through strategic political maneuvers.

This calculated effort directly contributed to Tinubu’s 2023 electoral victory over opponents Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, thereby reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape.

Despite this partnership, El-Rufai now challenges APC leadership and administration policies.

Tensions recently surfaced when X user @realYusufTukur condemned Tinubu’s camp for perceived hypocrisy.

The critic noted Tinubu’s team actively sought El-Rufai’s endorsement pre-election yet later accused him of disloyalty.

This contradiction highlights escalating political divisions within Nigeria’s ruling party.

The post read: “When they were desperately seeking El-Rufai’s support, #officialABAT and his goons were everywhere singing Malam’s praises.

Given their penchant for ingratitude, however, they’ve turned around to claim that Malam didn’t even support PBAT.

But these testimonies say otherwise.”

In a measured response via his X handle, El-Rufai dismissed the accusations and reiterated that his political actions were driven by a sense of duty rather than personal gain.

“We did what we did for God, country, and party, expecting nothing in return. What is unfolding is merely another life experience and part of human nature.

We have moved on, but their conscience won’t let them sleep well. Thanks anyway,” he wrote.

El-Rufai’s critiques expose growing APC divisions as internal rifts persist post-2023 elections, signaling broader party discontent.

His condemnation of Tinubu’s administration triggered nationwide debates via social media, drawing polarized responses from supporters and detractors alike.

Analysts warn this conflict threatens APC unity while the party struggles with governance challenges and political dominance maintenance.

Though El-Rufai claims to have “moved on,” his statements reveal unresolved frustrations regarding Tinubu allies’ recognition of his contributions.

Observers now watch whether APC leadership will reconcile with El-Rufai or let this dispute deepen the party’s internal fracture.
