Donald Trump’s ongoing feud with Meghan Markle: A nine-year clash
DDM News

Donald Trump has once again stoked his long-running feud with Meghan Markle, reigniting tensions that have been simmering for nearly a decade.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered in a recent interview with The New York Post, Trump was asked about rumors regarding the possible deportation of Prince Harry.
The conversation quickly turned to his ongoing criticism of the Duchess of Sussex, whom he has repeatedly described in less-than-flattering terms.
Trump addressed the issue of Prince Harry’s immigration status, with reports suggesting that the Heritage Foundation is urging U.S. authorities to release his visa application records, especially in light of Harry’s confessions of past drug use in his memoir Spare.
Despite being asked about deporting Harry, Trump offered a quick remark on the couple’s relationship, saying, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
This comment is just the latest in a series of harsh remarks Trump has directed toward Meghan Markle over the years.
The tension between them dates back to 2016 when Markle, still a star on Suits, openly criticized Trump’s divisive rhetoric.
During a 2016 interview on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Markle referred to him as “misogynistic” and “divisive,” even hinting that she would consider moving to Canada if Trump won the presidency.
Trump responded in kind, telling The Sun, “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
Though Trump later tried to walk back his “nasty” comment in a June 2019 tweet, claiming it had been “misinterpreted,” the damage was done.
Trump’s words were confirmed by an audio recording, which led to more headlines and backlash.
“Made up by the Fake News Media,” he tweeted. “Will CNN, New York Times, and others apologize? Doubt it!”
The feud didn’t stop there.
Ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Trump was asked about Meghan and Harry’s support for Joe Biden.
He was clear in his response: “I’m not a fan of hers,” he said, adding, “I would say this. and she’s probably heard that. But I wish a lot of luck to Harry. He’s gonna need it.”
Interestingly, while Trump has made his disdain for Meghan Markle clear, he has expressed admiration for her brother-in-law, Prince William.
The two met during the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral in December 2024, and Trump had only kind words for the future king.
“I think William is a great young man,” Trump remarked after the meeting.
This ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Meghan Markle continues to fuel public interest, as the two figures maintain a contentious relationship rooted in political differences and personal animosity.
