We Must Wake Up From Our Slumber To Safe Our Languages From Extinction-Ganduje

Governor Umaru Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state said Nigerians must Wake up to safe our languages from derailing to extinction,else our good values and norms will be vanished.

Ganduje while charging the management of  the just commissioned Pula’aku FM radio station Yola to ensure catchy line of programmes that can assist in improving the continued existence of the fulfulde language and other languages in the universe.

Governor Ganduje gave the charge in Yola weekend at the official inauguration of the members of the board of trustees and Directors of Pula’aku FM radio Adamawa state stressing that the formation of the media outfit was timely considering the serious threat of language extinction facing fulfulde language among the Fulani ethnic group.

Ganduje said the legacy of the radio can never be over emphasise commending the foresight of those behind the establishment of the radio station especially his royal highness,Lamido Adamawa.Barkido Aliyu Mustapha.

“Apart from promotion of peace,cultural norms and values,the formation of this radio station will long a long way of arresting the threat to our dieing language ( fulfulde) while we appreciate those behind this golden break through especially our amiable fulbe leader.Lamido Barkido Aliyu Mustapha.

“We must wake up from our deep slumber to safe our language from extinction as a heritage which we should pass to the generation behind us “.Ganduje observed.

 According to him,the calibre of the personalities that made up the list in the two boards of trustees and Directors for the station shows a formidable force to recon with in the mass media industry in the country.

 Earlier in his address,Lamido Barkido Mustapha described radio as an integral way of passing information to the populace especially the masses noting that it was formed on public,owner’s and commercial interests.

Mustapha said that,the radio station was also an achievement of historical milestone with a view to promote cultural values in our societies.

Lamido however urged practicing journalists to be upright in their professional calling by upholding to their professional ethnics  and laws of the land.

In their separate remarks,the chairmen of the boards (Trustees and Directors),His Royal Highness,Emir of Mubi,Alhaji Abubakar Isah Ahmadu and Professor Umaru Pate of BUK Kano pledged to put in their best in the upliftment of the radio station and fulfulde language in the country and universe.
