Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has warned the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that they’re prepared for a Supreme Court showdown over the party’s leadership dispute.
The former governor of Rivers State made this statement after his faction won nine appeals against the Turaki group, reportedly backed by Seyi Makinde.
Though, this is coming after the Court of Appeal in Abuja struck out an appeal instituted by the Turaki-led faction.
The appellate court also upheld the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court delivered on October 31, 2025, which restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 national convention held in Ibadan.
While reacting to the ruling, Wike said the verdict presents an opportunity for reconciliation within the party but warned that further legal action could worsen the crisis.
“Today’s judgment offers the PDP a chance to reconcile. However, if they choose to proceed to the Supreme Court, it will not be in the best interest of the party,” he said.
“If they insist on going to the Supreme Court, we are ready for them. We won all nine appeals against them today, and each judgment carries a cost of ₦2 million, bringing the total to ₦18 million against them,” he added.
