An Igbo businessman and entrepreneur based in Malaga Spain,  Mazi Anukwu Ahamefule has called on Igbos in Diaspora to come home and develop Igbo land.

He stated this during the occasion of the home coming and Reunion event of the Orlu Senatorial zone Cultural Association in Malaga Spain on Thursday 30th January 2025 at Heroes Bend Hotel Owerri Imo state.

Mazi Anukwu  said it is a clarion call for Igbo people in Diaspora to hear the voice of reasoning and come home from any where they are to develop Igbo land.

” We are doing this today so that any where our people are in America, London, Germany, Japan, Spain, Lagos etc to wake up to what is called Diaspora Home Coming”, he noted.

Anukwu who is the chairman emeritus of the Orlu Senatorial Zone Cultural Association OSZCA in Malaga said they celebrate the home coming every year adding that since six years they started the program, other people have emulated them.

” We will continue to do it until every Igbo man in diaspora comes home to invest because we know that some people will travel abroad and will not like to come back”, Anukwu stated.

The current chairman of Orlu Senatorial Zone  Cultural  Association in Malaga Spain, Mr Ikechukwu Emmanuel Eze said they started the home coming event since 2019  and since then there’s no year they did not do something tangible.

Mr Eze who gave awards to three deserving members of the association said the three of them did marvellously well.

” We are about one hundred (100) members but we selected just three persons for the awards and that shows that they did marvellously well and contributed immensely to the growth of the association and I’m in support of them wholeheartedly”, he stated.

He urged them to continue the good works they are doing in Orlu as the city will develop more than where it is today

One of the awardees, Etunni Jude Emeka from Amucha in Njaba LGA of Imo state said he did not expect the award as it came as a surprise but thanked God for it,  as he expressed his profound joy over the award.

Mr Daniel Obinna Maduka, an awardee said it’s an honour done to him even though he did not expect it.

” I have been in Malaga for 20 years and since then, I have served as the secretary of the association, I’m glad they were able to recognize me today”, he said.

Mr Maduka said that even in his village, he contributed to the growth and development of the youths and that he is well known for that.

He added that the award will encourage him to do more for the association and for Orlu people in general.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr Enyinnaya  Emeka expressed his happiness over the home coming event stressing that most of our people in diaspora have rejected their routes and vowed not to come back home.

He thanked the organizers for upholding the culture and traditions of Igbo land and urged them to continue in what they are doing as God will bless them.
