Why is Seyi Tinubu the new scapegoat?

An APC chieftain, Comrade Isaac Balami, has urged Nigerian youths to reject online attacks against Seyi Tinubu.

Balami described the criticisms as politically motivated and dangerous to youth representation in Nigeria’s political space, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

He addressed journalists in Abuja, condemning what he called persistent and targeted efforts to discredit Seyi’s reputation.

Seyi Tinubu, he said, has become a symbol of youth empowerment and civic responsibility through his foundation.

Balami pointed to a viral video from President Tinubu’s recent visit to the Vatican with his son.

In the video, critics claimed Seyi Tinubu was denied a handshake by the Pope.

Balami dismissed the claim, explaining that the video was twisted to create a misleading impression.

He clarified that Seyi was never scheduled to shake hands with the Pope.

Balami said political enemies were behind these efforts to reduce Seyi’s growing popularity among Nigerian youths.

He accused opposition elements of hiring people to push negative narratives online.

According to him, there is a coordinated agenda to undermine Seyi Tinubu’s influence.

Balami also referenced a past incident involving a factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The student leader had apologized after initially criticizing Seyi Tinubu publicly.

Balami cited this as another example of how Seyi faces unjustified backlash.

He stressed that false narratives are often used as political weapons to discourage promising leaders.

“Seyi Tinubu’s rise unsettles many people who fear youth-driven change,” Balami told the press.

He urged Nigerian youths to stop allowing themselves to be manipulated by political propagandists.

Instead, he said, young people should focus on Seyi’s impactful projects and community initiatives.

Balami described Seyi as a focused, disciplined individual committed to uplifting young Nigerians.

He praised Seyi’s conduct during the Vatican visit, saying he stayed alert and respectful throughout.

Many youths, Balami claimed, would have skipped the trip due to its serious nature.

“But Seyi showed maturity and dedication by following through till the end,” he added.

This, he argued, sets Seyi apart from other young Nigerians who avoid civic responsibilities.

Balami criticized those who choose parties and nightclubs over leadership development.

He said it is wrong to attack someone committed to public service and national unity.

“Seyi Tinubu has done more for young people than many care to admit,” Balami insisted.

He called Seyi a unifier with the capacity to bring Nigerian youths together.

Balami concluded by urging youths to defend their role models against destructive criticism.

He asked, “If Seyi faces this much harassment, what hope is there for regular youths?”

He encouraged solidarity around figures working to improve lives through honest service and youth-focused programs.

“We must stop tearing down those trying to lift us up,” Balami declared.
