Why we struck Iran, and hard too, Netanyahu & IDF explain

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has explained why Israel launched heavy attacks on Iran early hours of Friday, June 13, 2015.
Speaking during a media broadcast, Netanyahu said that Israel struck Iran so hard to stop the country’s match to acquiring nuclear weapon.
The Israel Prime Minister said respecting the attacks amongst other things:
“We struck at the heart of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program and nuclear weaponization efforts.”
He also said: “We targeted Iran’s main enrichment facility in Natanz.”
He said further: “We also targeted leading Iranian nuclear scientists working on the bomb, as well as the core of Iran’s ballistic missile program.”
Also: “We have no choice but to act quickly – if we don’t act now, we simply won’t be here. “Never again” – it’s now.
“We have internalized the lessons of history – when the enemy says he intends to destroy you – believe him.”

Initial reports say Israel has been able to kill the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Bagheri, in a decapitation strike.
Speaking on the “Operation Strength of a Lion”, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), in a statement said in a brief summary:
- The IDF launched a preemptive, targeted aerial strike on Iran’s nuclear program under orders from the political leadership.
- Dozens of Israeli warplanes struck multiple military and nuclear-related targets across Iran.
- The strike was in response to Iran’s escalating aggression and its rapid progress toward a nuclear weapon.
- The IDF warns that Iran’s regime has financed and directed terror against Israel through proxies like Hamas, and was directly responsible for missile attacks on Israel.
- The Iranian regime has publicly called for Israel’s destruction and poses an existential threat with its weapons of mass destruction.
- The Israeli public must follow Home Front Command instructions. Civil defense is a key element in the ongoing operation.
- The IDF is prepared for further action, both defensively and offensively, and will act wherever necessary to protect Israeli citizens.
Meanwhile, this medium learnt that the commander of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hassan Salami, was eliminated during the airstrikes.
