Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf swiftly suspended Acting Head of Service Salisu Mustapha due to serious allegations.
After investigating reports of illegal salary deductions and payment delays, the governor emphasized the need for accountability.
By taking this decisive action, he reinforced transparent governance and effectively safeguarded workers’ financial rights throughout the state.
This decision, announced on Thursday by spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, takes immediate effect.
Furthermore, Mustapha has been directed to step aside as Permanent Secretary, Establishment, ensuring accountability and addressing the issue promptly.
This decision is aimed at ensuring an unhindered investigation into the allegations.
To ensure administrative continuity during the investigation, Governor Yusuf approved Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo’s appointment.
Consequently, the Permanent Secretary of REPA will now serve as the Acting Head of Service.
This decision aims to maintain stability and efficiency throughout the ongoing probe.
Jalo will serve in this capacity pending the outcome of the investigation.
The governor emphasized his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on financial misconduct.
He warned that anyone found culpable in the matter would face severe consequences, reiterating his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
An investigative committee led by Abdulkadir Abdussalam has been inaugurated to examine the alleged irregularities.
The committee has been given a seven-day deadline to uncover the facts and submit its findings.
Salisu Mustapha was appointed Acting Head of Service earlier this month after the substantive Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, was granted medical leave to receive treatment in India.
This development underscores Governor Yusuf’s resolve to uphold integrity in public service and ensure that civil servants receive their rightful entitlements without any form of malpractice.
