100 days; Owerri Municipal Council Chair, Emeribe gives scorecard

The Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon. Chidiebere Emeribe has enumerated his various achievements and activities within his first hundred days in office.

Hon. Emeribe ably represented by the leader of the Owerri Municipal legislative Council, Hon Soronnadi Justice thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for his fatherly support which culminates to the feat he achieved so far.

Briefing newsmen in his office at Owerri Municipal on Wednesday 19th February 2025, the Leader of the Council, Hon Soronnadi Justice on behalf of the Executive Chairman said he has proved himself to be a proactive chairman and his people are happy.

The leader explained that the chairman within his first three months has x-rayed the challenges faced by the municipal people and has started visiting them one by one.

“The chairman ensured that there is peace in every community for both indigenes and non-indigenes.

He has a lot of projects he has executed already ranging from road grading, electricity restoration, especially repair of faulty transformers, replacement of damaged transformers etc”, he stated.

Soronnadi disclosed that the chairman has put smiles on the faces of some indigent people within Owerri Municipality.

He said Hon Emeribe has repaired some unmotorable roads within the World bank axis, Sites and services and Works layout areas that were not accessible.

The Municipal Council leader noted that Chief Emeribe introduced operation zero potholes which commenced in December 2024 where the failed asphalted section of the roads were filled with stone base rubicles to enable vehicles pass easily.

Adding that he extended to Douglas road, St Paul junction, Edede linking the fourth inland road, Royce road, Oparanozie etc to make them accessible and motorable.

In the area of security, he said the chairman ensured that there is synergy between the security agencies and the council.

Soronnadi hinted that Owerri Municipal is looking clean because of the unalloyed support of Governor Hope Uzodinma and the introduction of Imo state Waste Management Agency, Eastern Waste Management Agency etc.

” During the Christmas season, the chairman as part of his stakeholders engagement went round the market and had one on one interface with the traders.

He noticed that one of the challenges was dirty environment filled up with rats, rodents and dangerous creatures then he ensured that the market was properly fumigated and sanitized.”

The Council leader who is the Councillor representing Azuzu Ward 2 pointed out that the Council Chairman rehabilitated about ten abandoned boreholes by past administrations and made them fuctional, extended it to Ama Hausa, Oguamalam streets etcetera.

” The facelift of Owerri Municipal has been a regular exercise but this time around he extended to the agricultural unit, like the poultry house, snails house ready to be stocked”, Soronnadi stated.
