Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), along with South-East APC stakeholders, have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement, made at the “Izu Umunna” meeting in Enugu, aims to mobilize bloc votes across the region.
The leaders cited Tinubu’s confidence in the South-East and the need for pragmatic politics, emphasizing that “politics is pay as you earn.”
They highlighted APC’s growing presence in the region, including controlling three states, and urged voters to translate this into national influence.
However, the endorsement has faced criticism, with some arguing it’s “shameful” given the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. Critics also point to poor infrastructure and lack of federal presence in the South-East.
The APC Christians’ Wing in Adamawa State has dismissed claims of Muslim dominance, saying Tinubu’s re-election bid transcends religion.
