480 New Police constables graduate in Imo

About four hundred and eighty (480) new Police constables have graduated from Police Training School in Nekede Owerri West LGA of Imo state.

The ceremony, which marked six months of intensive training witnessed large turn out of dignitaries, including Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, ably represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Modestus Osakwe, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Hashimu Argungu.

According to a report by Prince Chimaraoke Uwalaka, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has called on the 2022 batch of over 10,000 police constables nationwide to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in their policing duties.

“This directive was delivered by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Sulieman Amuda Yusuf, during the passing-out parade of 480 constables at the Police Training School in Nekede, Owerri, Imo State”, he stated.

According to him, AIG Yusuf emphasized the importance of community policing and announced plans to deploy the new constables to their respective local communities in Imo and Abia States.

“This strategy aims to strengthen grassroots familiarity, tackle unique security challenges, and foster greater trust between law enforcement and the public”, AIG Yusuf stated.

“Speaking on behalf of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) reiterated the foundational role of discipline in the Nigerian Police Force.

“He encouraged the recruits to remain accountable and actively contribute to enhancing national security.

“Representatives of both state governors commended the graduates and urged them to engage with their communities to improve public safety and ensure effective policing.

“During the event, exceptional recruits were recognized with awards for their outstanding performances during training.

“ACP Sulieman Shuaibu, Commandant of the Police Training School, expressed his gratitude to the IGP and other dignitaries for their consistent support.

“He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to preparing disciplined and skilled officers ready to address modern security challenges.

“The Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to safeguarding public safety and building trust through community-centered policing strategies. The deployment of these new officers marks a significant step toward achieving this mission,” he said.

“The event underscores the force’s focus on discipline, professionalism, and community collaboration in addressing security needs across Nigeria”, the source stated.
