Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, expressed concern about investigators taking bribes and is taking action to identify and remove them.

During his New Year address to the commission staff on Thursday, Olukoyede stated that the primary goal of the global fight against corruption and financial crimes is to promote economic growth and job creation for the people.

Olukoyede emphasized the importance of the EFCC in the country’s growth and development and urged staff to remain dedicated to their mission.

Olukoyede said public opinions about the conduct of some investigators are unfavorable and called on the staff to show integrity and discipline.

He warned that he will take strong action against investigators who take bribes and will no longer tolerate such behavior.

The EFCC has directed the Department of Internal Affairs to closely monitor all staff and their activities to maintain the commission’s integrity and prevent corruption.

We are a civilized anti-graft agency, arrest and bail would henceforth be done in line with the rule of law.

The EFCC chairman acknowledged the importance of improving the welfare of staff and is taking steps to address it.

Olukoyede emphasized the importance of understanding the changing dynamics of law enforcement and not resisting change in the work of EFCC investigators.

Olukoyede emphasized that being an EFCC staff comes with both duty and obligation, and that it should be treated with dignity and responsibility.
