Senate President Bukola Saraki takes the official prayers and leads the Senate into today’s proceedings.

At the closed doors session Senate deliberated on issues bothering on the workings of the National Assembly and the confirmation of the nomination of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] Chairman and other members.
Following the security report before it, Senate therefore rejected the confirmation of the Nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as Chairman EFCC
The Senate confirmed the nomination of the other 4 Members of the EFCC and referred them for further security screening.
Senate comments on the title of the publication: “Senate Seeks SGF Sack” is all that balvadash” from BBC Interview which says: “The Senators are talking rubbish” – by SGF Babachir Lawal
Senator Dino Melaye retorts: “A mere appointee of the President says that we are liars”.
“If the SGF Babachir Lawal says the document presented by the CAC is fake, he should produce the original” – says Senator Dino Melaye.
“It is largely shown that the SGF Babachir Lawal does not have the necessary capacity to occupy the post” – Senator Ibn Na’Allah chips in.

Sen. Utazi says that an issue like this must not be swept under the carpet.
“This position is a responsible position but if we have an irresponsible person there, it becomes a problem” – Sen. Chukwuka Utazi
“The issue we have here is very serious because it bothers on the integrity of the Senate” – SP, Bukola Saraki
Breaking: Senate rejects Magu’s nominations as EFCC chairman
Following the security report before it…
“A matter like this should not be personalised, how can the SGF say we are saying rubbish” – SP, Bukola Saraki
We will reconvene in few minutes to adopt the report of the rejection of EFCC chair Ibrahim Magu so as to transmit to President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We will communicate with the President with necessary document and let’s see what the Executive will do” – SP, Bukola Saraki
“We leave that to the Executive to do what has to be done, we have done our part and we commend you all for your effort”- SP. Bukola Saraki
Sen. Dino Melaye now proceed to lay the report before the Senate.

Osinachukwu Ideozu- Rivers West. They were given a rousing welcome.
SP, Bukola Saraki announces the inauguration of the C’ttee on Legislative Compliance & reads a letter of appreciation from Sen. Omo-Agege.
