Public Officers In Nasarawa Undergo Training On Procurement Law

Nasarawa State government in collaboration with Charterhouse Consulting Limited, on Monday, began a two weeks training workshop for public office holders.

The state government says it would enhance the prudent management of public funds in the state.

In his speech while declaring the event opened, Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State said the two-Week training workshop on procurement and management of supplies for political and public office holders in Nasarawa State, was organized in collaboration with Charterhouse Consulting Limited, Lafia.

The governor explained that the aimed of the workshop was to entrenching the culture of due process in the management of our public institutions.

The workshop was intended to instill in the minds of political and public office holders, the virtues of due process and trustworthiness in accordance with the principles and procedures established in the Public Procurement Rules.

According to him, “As you are aware, the Public Procurement initiative was established by an Act of Parliament to serve as a regulatory framework for the monitoring of public institution and exercising oversight on public procurement.

“This is to ensure that proper mechanisms are put in place in the award of contracts to qualified contractors and in delivering services.

He also noted that the workshop was in line with the objective of his administration aimed at inculcating the virtues of due process and prudent management of public resources into the psyche of our public officers.

He however said that his aware that the theme of this training workshop is “Public Procurement as a panacea for good governance in Nasarawa State”.
