Nigerian University to establish artificial intelligence, robotic hub

Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, owned by the Nigerian government, is working towards establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Centre in the University to aid in innovative teaching and learning for lecturers and students.

This was made by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Leo Daniel, on Monday when he received in audience a Team from BredHub-UBTECH Educational Services, a global AI and Robotic Technology Instructors and Investors.

The VC affirmed that the institution is positioned to partner credible investors and partners to establish Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Centre in the University to aide in Innovative Teaching and Learning for Lecturers and Students which will improve their problem-solving skills and Technological Discoveries as well as to gain insightful perspectives in fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM).

He stressed that the University is Technology oriented and is committed to padding her curriculum with other relevant components that will boost the teaching methods and learning outcomes for Lecturers and Students towards national development.

This is on the heels of the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics as part of Universities’ academic curricula which will serve as the major driver to effective preparation of our students and lecturers for the growing and evolving technological world.

Upon the establishment, the AI and Robotics Hub will serve as an E-Learning, Resource and Research Centre for Lecturers, Students, Researchers and Government Agencies; stimulating innovations, inventions, Service-Provider and Technological Transfer for human and national development.
