Mysterious fire burns down varsity female hostel in Nigeri

Community in Federal University Gashua, FUGA, were thrown into confusion on Saturday after an explained fire broke out at the school’s female Hostel, burning down the entire facility.

Eyewitnesses said properties worth millions of naira were lost in the inferno and the cause of the fire is yet to be known.

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) team visited the scene to conduct the assessment.

 

The Executive Secretary SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje revealed that, “LEMC team in Bade and Jakusko LGA who visited the scene and made a spot assessment of casualties and destroyed items of students confirmed sadly the death of 1 female student burned to ashes, 29 rooms completely destroyed, 301 students affected, and 3 injured receiving treatments”.

“Yobe State Government will reach out to the management of FUGA and support the recovery effort of the school”, he added.

He sympathized with the Staff, Students and the University community over the sad incident and prayed to God to protect against further occurrences.
