Promes was nabbed in March as he landed at the Dubai Airport to join his Spartak Moscow teammates who were camping in the middle east country.
The Dutch player was served with an international arrest warrant and has now been sentenced to 6 years in prison for drug trafficking.
The Dutchman’s legal team has said he will appeal his conviction.
DDM now understands that the player is having an extremely hard time in Dubai prison.
As per trusted sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, “he stays in a six-person cell where he sleeps in 1 of the 3 double bunk beds but with 10 up to 20 people sleeping on the floor in the same cell.”
“Fresh air is allowed 3 times per week but he can’t exercise as there are no facilities available”.
“The food is always same and no fruits & vegetables are served. The complex is stone cold with extremely loud noise due to the constantly blaring air conditioners”.
“Rapes of young guys are an everyday occurrence and in the department where Quincy Promes stays, there are hardly any guards to be seen”.
“The rules are strict. Everyone is required to have their heads shaved upon entry. Prisoners who let their hair grow again receive a punishment that will then apply to the entire department.”
