Inter Milan Waste Two-Goal Lead As Torino Fight Back In Scudetto Twist

Share this:

TURIN, ITALY — Inter Milan missed a golden opportunity to move closer to the Serie A title after surrendering a two-goal lead in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Torino, delaying their chance to all but secure the Scudetto.

Inter travelled to Turin knowing a victory would significantly strengthen their position at the top of the table, but despite taking control early, they were forced to settle for a point after a late Torino comeback changed the momentum of the match.

The visitors started strongly and appeared in control when Marcus Thuram powered in a header from a precise Federico Dimarco cross to give Inter the lead.

Inter extended their advantage later in the match when Yann Aurel Bisseck rose highest at a corner, doubling the Nerazzurri’s lead and putting them firmly on course for a crucial away win.

However, Torino refused to back down and responded through Giovanni Simeone, who produced a composed lofted finish to reduce the deficit and shift momentum back toward the home side.

The match took another turn when VAR intervened, ruling that Carlos Augusto had handled the ball inside the penalty area, awarding Torino a late spot kick.

Nikola Vlašić stepped up and converted confidently from the penalty spot, bringing Torino level with just minutes remaining and completing a dramatic comeback.

The draw means Inter remain in control of the title race and could still be crowned Serie A champions next weekend when they host Parma, depending on results elsewhere.
