CLO condemns killing of policemen in Enugu

The South East Zonal Headquarters of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) located in Enugu has condemned the killing of policemen in Enugu.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Civil Liberties Organization on the killing of policemen while on duty and signed by Comrade Kindness Jonah.
News Band had reported that four police operatives were reportedly killed in a checkpoint at the outskirt of Enugu state capital.
Reports said that the gunmen who operated in Sienna and Lexus Jeep stormed the checkpoint were the officers were on duty and opened fire on them.
Comrade Jonah stated:
“CLO, with utmost respect to right to life as the most important civil right item, and in utmost regard to rule of law, hereby utterly and unequivocally condemn the killing of police people in Enugu metropolis and environs by yet-to-be-identified assassins.
“CLO explicitly and expressly state as follows:
1) No reason is solid enough to Take away life extra judicially
2) No body is above the law
3) Police people are meant to be internal protectors of lives and property of the citizenry
4) Police people are meant to be friends of the people , and not foes , and should NOT be seen as enemies.
5) There could be bad and very bad and very deadly elements in Nigerian Police Force: that in itself, can NEVER be a sufficient reason to be Killing Police people sporadically.
Sequel to 5 points above, CLO recommends Police—Civil Society—Citizens Relations, periodically held, to soothe nerves of discontent between the Police and the Populace.”
