- Bisexual former X Factor judge Mel, 41 — who reportedly shared foursomes with her husband — has been plotting to break free for two years.
Melanie Brown filed the papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, citing the date of separation as 28 December.

Hollywood producer Belafonte and Brown, 41, have a five-year-old daughter named Madison.
The singer has asked the judge to deny spousal support to Belafonte and for the couple to have joint custody of their daughter.
As well as Madison, she has a nine-year-old daughter from her brief relationship with actor Eddie Murphy, and an 18-year-old daughter from her first marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar.
In 2007, the singer was involved in a custody battle with Murphy after the actor demanded a paternity test to confirm their daughter, Angel, was his.
“I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test,” he said.
Last month, Mel B posted an Instagram photo of herself and Belafonte, describing him as “her world”.
“We have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger,” she wrote.
Belafonte, whose real name is Stephen Stansbury, is a Hollywood producer and director whose credits include Thank You For Smoking and Bad Lieutenant.
Belafonte also has another daughter, Giselle, from a previous relationship.
