There are a couple of dangerous floaters among those who missed the rankings cutoff.

Caroline Wozniacki, finalist in 2009 and 2014, will be unseeded, as well as Eugenie Bouchard.

Monica Puig just barely missed the cutoff at No.34.

She defeated two reigning Grand Slam champions – Garbiñe Muguruza and Angelique Kerber.

She also defeated two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova en route to the Olympic gold medal in Rio.

There’s a pair of big names absent as well, as Flavia Pennetta’s retirement means she won’t be back to defend her title.

And Victoria Azarenka, who would have been the No.7 seed, won’t be participating in this year’s tournament after announcing her pregnancy.

The singles draws for the 2016 US Open will be revealed on Friday, August 26, with main draw action starting on Monday, August 29.
