Citizens urged to participate in governance

Published

As Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians mark the one-year anniversary of their leaders’ time in office, a call has been made for citizens to participate intentionally in governance to ensure good governance at all levels.

This call to action was made by Citizen Matthew Koft Okono (MKO), Productivity Advocate and Founder/President of Open Forum, a coalition of citizens committed to nation-building.

According to MKO, “This is not the time for blame games, but a time for citizens to come together and work towards nation-building. We must recognize that the character of a nation comes not from the character of its leader, but from that of its citizens.” He emphasized the need for citizens to take ownership of their country’s development and work towards achieving good governance.

Open Forum urged citizens to join the movement and work together to address the socio-economic and political challenges facing the nation.

The organization believes that citizens’ intentional participation in governance is crucial to achieving good governance at all levels.

MKO further stated, “We must think not outside the box but without the box. We must be willing to challenge the status quo and work together to build a better future for ourselves and future generations.”

Open Forum also calls on citizens to join the movement by following, subscribing, liking, and sharing their content on social media.

The organization can be reached through their email address, openforumwithmko@gmail.com, or their phone number, +234 (0) 802 757 7497.
