EU Court Imposes Hefty Fine on Hungary Over Asylum Policy Breach

In a landmark ruling, the European Court of Justice has ordered Hungary to pay a substantial fine of €200 million (approximately $216 million) for failing to comply with the European Union’s asylum policies.

The court also imposed a daily penalty of €1 million until Hungary brings its asylum procedures in line with EU law.
