Senate C’tee solicits for ‘localised Police’ to address insecurity

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim [above] yesterday solicited for the introduction of a, ‘localised police ‘ in order to address the issue of insecurity in the country.

Addressing journalists immediately after the inauguration of its Committee by the Senate President Bukola Saraki inaugurated his committee, Senator Abu said the introduction of the localised police would enhance the performance of the country’s police.

“Policemen from the rank of ASP upward should be sourced nationally since they will be operating at higher levels.

“If you take Policeman from Musawa in Katsina to a village in Bayelsa, he would be feeling as if he was transferred to China, “he said.

He said his committee would give necessary attention to the funding and training of the Nigeria Police to enhance their performances.

“As the vice chairman of the Police committee at the Seventh Senate, I know the problems of the Police are funding and training, “he said.

He said he would meet with the members of his committee to set agenda for the committee.
