Nick Imudia, the former CEO of Konga, a leading e-commerce company in Nigeria, tragically took his own life on the night of June 25, 2024, by jumping from the balcony of his apartment in Lekki, Lagos.

The shocking incident has sent waves of sadness and disbelief throughout the business and technology communities, and beyond.

According to sources close to the family, Imudia made several phone calls in the hours leading up to his death, including one to his brother in the United States and another to his daughter.

During these conversations, he discussed the distribution of his wealth and expressed his desire to remain present in his daughter’s life, even in death.

These poignant conversations have left loved ones and colleagues grappling with the complexity of Imudia’s final moments.

Imudia’s death has sparked a national conversation about mental health awareness and the need for support systems, particularly among high-profile individuals.

Many have taken to social media to share their condolences and reflect on the pressures and stresses that often accompany success. Some have also called for greater resources and support for mental health initiatives, recognizing that even the most seemingly accomplished individuals can struggle with inner demons.

Imudia’s tenure at Konga was marked by significant growth and expansion, as the company became one of the leading players in Nigeria’s e-commerce market.

His leadership and strategic vision helped to drive innovation and adoption, making Konga a household name in the country. His departure from the company in 2022 was met with sadness from many who had come to respect and admire his leadership.
