Blockchain graduands slam NITDA for issuing them certificates without names after 6 months scholarship program

Angry Nigerian youths have slammed National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), for issuing them certificates without names after completing a digital skill scholarship program on Blockchain which was organized by the agency.

NITDA in conjunction with Domineum Blockchain Solutions in 2022 announced the launch of Blockchain Scholarship Scheme. The program was aimed at training 32,000 Nigerian youths on blockchain technology for developing career skills in the emerging technologies.

The scheme was launched on the Blockchain-day of “Digital Nigeria” event held on the 26th October 2022 by Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director General/CEO of NITDA.

The scholarship was to help accelerate Blockchain adoption in Nigeria and make Nigeria a global player in the Blockchain industry.

The scheme had Domineum Blockchain Solutions as the implementing partner and BSV Blockchain Academy as the course content provider.

Also, the program which was monitored by News Band Newspaper was delivered through a hybrid mode (virtual and physical meetups) in all the states of the federation by the course coordinator and Country CTO of Domineum, Mr Calistus Igwilo

After the completion of the program, NITDA graduated over 32,000 participants on the 5 of May 2023 without issuing them any form of certification.

News Band was told my one of the beneficiary of the program that they were informed to wait a little longer and their certificate will be minted during BSV conference in London.

However, after the long wait, on 10 of July 2023, NITDA through Domineum institute, sent the certificate to the Blockchain graduands to their email address without their names boldly written on it.

The situation has raised dust among the beneficiary of the program who said that NITDA fooled them by sending them a certificate without their names attached to it after spending six of their precious time on the program.

Meanwhile, an attempt by News Band Newspaper to reach the authorities in NITDA to react to the situation proved abortive.
